Pixel density calculator
How big is one pixel on your facade? Enter the projected width and horizontal resolution to get pixel size, pixel density and a recommended minimum viewing distance.
Why pixel size matters
People see individual pixels when they are close to a large projection. At 1 arc-minute (normal visual acuity), the distance at which pixels blur together is about 3,438 × pixel size. For festival facades viewed from 30–100 m, pixels of 1–3 cm are usually invisible; immersive rooms viewed from 2–5 m need far smaller pixels — that's why they use many 4K projectors.
