AI Nüshu (AI女书)

by Yuqian Sun

🏆 Honorary Mention · Prix Ars Electronica 2025

In 2025, the Prix Ars Electronica jury recognised “AI Nüshu (AI女书)” by Yuqian Sun (Digital Humanity) with a Honorary Mention.

Nüshu ( 女 书 ), also called "Women's Script," is a unique language created and used exclusively for centuries by women in Hunan Province, China, to communicate in Chinese when they were excluded from formal education. Can AI learn from pre-modern Chinese women and create their own secret language?
